Development Band

The Development Band was created in January 2018. We meet on a Thursday evening during school term time from 7:30-9pm in the bandroom.

The band is open to brass players of any age, we currently have a mix of adults and young people age 11+. Many players have come through the beginner and training bands but we also have adults who have returned to banding after a break of many years.

The playing standard is mixed but as a minimum requirement members must be able to read music fairly fluently and be able to play at least an octave from bottom C of their instrument (approx grade 2-4 standard).

We play some of the easier senior band music as well as some music aimed at developing bands. We join with the senior band for important events such as Remembrance day so we also learn senior band marches and Christmas carols. The band play on the bandstand during June and July to raise funds.
