Band receives donation of a new drum kit
The town band’s weekly summer bandstand concerts will now start with a much fresher ‘bang’ – thanks to the kind donation of a new drum kit.
Mel & Warren from the Cheshire area, who are friends of the band’s percussionist Andrew Newton, kindly donated a new drum kit for the band to use on the promenade.

The fresh sea air and prevailing westerly winds were thought by the Victorians to be good for the health, and are part of the reason that the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno is as popular with visitors now as it was back then – but it’s no good for brass band instruments!
The band has to budget for occasional replacements when instruments get too worn or corroded to continue to be of use. Like all mechanical things, they are liable to suffer with wear and tear, and the band’s extremely busy summer schedule combined with the marine environment means some things do wear out a little more quickly than might be seen with other bands.
Llandudno Town Band’s previous drumkit was at end of life and becoming increasingly difficult to use. The new drumkit should last the band for a good number of years.
Instruments can be expensive to replace, and the kind donation by Mel & Warren is estimated to have saved the band around £700.00
