‘D-Day’ Commemorations 2024
We are proud to be taking part in local events commemorating the Normandy Landings which began eighty years ago on 6 June 1944 (‘D-Day’), the largest Naval, Air and Land Operation in history.
Thursday 6/6/24 11:00am
The sounding of ‘Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’ by a member of the band will be part of a short ceremony at Conwy Morfa, a construction site of portable ‘Mulberry Harbours’ used in the ‘D-Day’ landings.
Thursday 6/6/24 from 8:35pm
At the promenade Bandstand, following the opening of the event by the Mayor of Llandudno, the band will play a selection of music from the WWII era. At 9:05pm ‘Last Post’ will be played (and ‘Reveille’ following a minutes silence). After the lighting of a beacon, the National Anthems will be played.
Saturday 8/6/24 from 10:50am
The band will play as a parade marches to the Cenotaph. We will accompany the singing of ‘Calon Lan’ followed by the sounding of ‘Last Post’ and ‘Reveille’ and then the National Anthems.
