Mr George H. Brookes MBE

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Mr George H. Brookes MBE.

George joined the Llandudno Town Band as a junior player in 1940 and quickly became a very accomplished and committed bandsman, showcasing his skills particularly as a top class cornet player for many decades.
His dedication to the band as a player, conductor and instrumental tutor over the years was exceptional and he was an inspiration to many youngsters, some of whom still play in the band as adults today.  George’s untiring efforts were justly recognised and rewarded in the year 2000, when he was awarded the MBE for his services to banding.
The Llandudno Town Band owes a great deal to George and he is greatly missed as a person and as a musician.
Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
